The family-friendly community of Fairmont Hot Springs, BC lies astride Highway 93/95 in southeastern BC, just 20 minutes south of Invermere and about a 3-hour drive from Calgary, Alberta. Also included in the community are Dutch Creek and Columere Park. The population is only around 500 permanent residents but Fairmont Hot Springs is renowned as a holiday destination for golfers, with the Fairmont Hot Springs Resort’s 3 courses, Mountainside, Creekside and Riverside and for its historic hot pools.
If you try to imagine what Paradise looks like, it might just resemble Fairmont Hot Springs, with its spectacular mountain views to the east and west, alpine forests, incredible blue skies and the meandering Columbia River flowing lazily by.
In summer, you can golf, of course, but there is also horseback riding, canoeing, tennis, fishing or hiking on the many groomed trails in the area, boating and picnicking on nearby Columbia Lake or rafting on the river. In winter, skiing and snowboarding are popular at the resort’s ski hill and family ski area and there is cross-country skiing on the trails.
Gift shops, restaurants, grocery and liquor store, gas station and car wash offer just about everything you might need and more shopping is available in Invermere.
