Situated on the northern shore of beautiful Lake Windermere, Invermere is the economic and cultural hub of the Columbia Valley, BC, a town of about 3,500 permanent and several thousand part-time recreational residents.
On the “sunny side of the Rockies”, Invermere offers a perfect blend of opportunities for easy family living, far from the bustle of the larger cities. In the summer months, you can enjoy great golfing at over a dozen championship golf courses in the area, swimming, fishing, boating and more on the lake, soaking in the nearby hot springs, hiking on the many alpine trails or just plain easy living with the family.
Winter offers downhill, cross-country or heli-skiing, snowboarding – even dog-sledding at nearby Panorama Mountain Resort or skating, skate-skiing and hiking on the Lake Windermere Whiteway, a 15-km immaculately-groomed track on the ice. Hockey and curling are favorites in the cold months of the year as well.
The town has a great community spirit, excellent schools, a community college, hospital, a strong local government, several churches, a fine library and a sports arena. The downtown area offers shops, art galleries, cafes and high-end restaurants. The Columbia Valley Arts Council offers a wide variety of cultural events throughout the year, such as art shows, concerts, children’s events and more.
